Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona is about to start a new tour through out Latin America, and maybe Spain: ADENTRO TOUR.
In 2003 Ricardo traveled to Barcelona, Spain, with Mexican film director, Daniel Gruener, for the filming of the video "El Problema", the first promotional single from his album, "Santo Pecado". The single was at number one in Mexico, Chile, and the US.
The filming took place November 16th,, 17th, and 18th using the city's gothic settings as a backdrop for the production. Danish cinematographer Nicolag Bruel gave the video an avant-garde feel that is very different from anything else presented by Arjona up to date.
The Barcelona cathedral, the renowned street alleys, the Barrio Gotico, the Federacion Catalana del Billar, the city's legendary rooftops, and the great Plaza San Fernando, all paid witness to the filming of "El Problema", which was carried out during three days of intense filming, by a remarkable crew and production team.
In the video, Arjona plays a tough, disheveled, street character. In order to look the part, his record label executives convinced him to spend the entire night barhopping around the city, and in turn, show up to the shoot completely in character. Without sleep, and a five o'clock shadow, Arjona had the look to a T.
During the shooting of the video's last scene, which was filmed in front of the Catedral Catalana, Ricardo and Argentinian model, Fernanda had to film under the rain in 40 degree weather. Needless to say, they were freezing as they had to do three takes that lasted over an hour.
The result is an impeccable six minutes that resemble a short film more than a music video, and develop the story told by Arjona in an alternative and radical way. The video has already begun rotation worldwide.
